MatriMetrics only works if you tell us personal things. This policy explains, in plain words, what we collect, why, who sees it, and what you control.
1. What we collect
- Account: name, email, password (hashed), optional phone, login details, IP address, device/browser.
- Profile: date of birth, gender, country/city, nationality, languages, education, work, income band (optional), marital status, children, religion and denomination, optional photo, optional height.
- Assessment answers: your responses about family, personality, communication, emotional health, values, faith, money, career, children, parents, health and habits, lifestyle, relationship expectations, and short free-text answers. Some of these are sensitive personal data (religion, health, aspects of personal and family life).
- Payments: order details and status. Card details are handled by our payment gateway, Cashfree, and never stored by us.
- Reports: the reports we generate for you and, if paired, for you and your partner.
- Sharing records: who you invited, who you shared reports with.
- Usage: pages viewed, time on sections, errors (for improving the service).
2. Why we use it (purposes and legal basis)

We do not sell your data, show you advertising, or use your answers to train AI models.
3. Who sees what
- Your partner sees the Couple Report (general positions, scores, and conversation topics). Your partner never sees your individual answers, and there is no setting that would allow it. Private cautions in your Individual Report are never shown to your partner.
- Parents/guardians see only a PDF copy of the Couple Report if you — and only you — choose to send it (up to two addresses). They cannot request it through the service.
- Our team accesses your data only when needed for support, security, or legal reasons; every such access is logged.
- Service providers (processors): Lovable and Supabase (hosting and database, region Tokyo, Japan (ap-northeast-1)), Cashfree (payment processing), Resend (email delivery), Anthropic (AI narrative generation — receives first names, age bands, scores and coded results, never your full identity), Google Analytics (usage statistics, loaded only with your consent). Each is bound by contract to protect your data.
- Authorities: only where the law requires.
4. International transfers
Your data is stored in Tokyo, Japan. This is permitted under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, which restricts transfers only to countries the Indian government has specifically listed; Japan is not one of them. Japan also holds an adequacy decision from the European Commission, which supports transfers for our EU/UK users. Some providers operate in other countries; where required, we use appropriate additional safeguards such as standard contractual clauses. We never store payment card details — these are held only by our payment processors, consistent with India's data-localisation rule for payment system data.
5. How long we keep it
- Active account: as long as it is active.
- Unsubmitted drafts: deleted after 12 months.
- Inactive accounts: after 3 years of inactivity we email you, then delete.
- Deleted accounts: personal data and answers are deleted 7 days after your request. Couple reports involving you are anonymised for your former partner. Invoices and payment records are kept for 8 years as required by Indian law, with personal data minimised.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can: access and download your data (JSON + PDF from Settings); correct profile details; retake the assessment (answers are locked once submitted so reports stay honest); delete your account; withdraw consent (this ends the service, since we cannot assess without your answers); object or restrict certain processing; nominate a person to exercise your rights (DPDP); complain to the Data Protection Board of India or your local supervisory authority. Write to privacy@matrimetrics.com; we respond within 30 days.
7. Security
Encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest (with field-level encryption for answers and sensitive fields), access controls, audit logs, regular backups, and breach procedures. If a breach affects you, we will notify you and the relevant authority as the law requires.
8. Children
MatriMetrics is for adults 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18; such accounts are deleted.
9. Cookies
We use essential cookies (login, security). Non-essential analytics cookies are used only with your consent where the law requires it.
10. Changes
We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app. The current version is always on this page with its date.
